Hawaii Coral Fish
One of the main attractions of visiting Hawaii is to go out in the ocean, just off the beach, and take a look underwater at the ocean life. This usually mean exploring Hawaii's coral reefs. Hawaii's coral reefs are the home of thousands of spies of ocean life, including a spectacular assortment of coral fish. Many of the coral fish seen in Hawaii can only be found in Hawaiian waters. Many people desire to scuba dive or snorkel at Hawaiian coral reefs to experience all the different colors of coral fish first hand. Here is a small list of coral reef fish found in Hawaii; moorish idol fish, emperors fish, damsel fish, angel fish, trumpet fish, squirrel fish, hawk fish, trigger fish, puffer fish, anthia fish, rudder fish, butterfly fish, parrot fish, cardinal fish, and cornet fish.
One problem with the love for exploring Hawaii's coral reefs is the reefs can be "loved to death." Coral reefs may seem hard and permanent, but are actually very fragile. What took a very long time to develop can be broken in an instant from a misplaced step or a drop of a boat anchor. Remember to snorkel over the coral reef, dont go touching the coral reef. Wearing floatation devices while snorkeling help remind you not to touch the coral reef. If your snorkeling or scuba diving and you need to stand on the ocean floor, find a sandy bottom area, dont stand on the coral reef. Even if you never go to Hawaii you can help the Hawaiian coral reefs by only purchasing common aquarium fish. By only purchasing common aquarium fish you help keep coral reefs from being overfished. | |
